10-year-old Competes in the World Karate and Kickboxing Commission

At 10 years of age, Trevor McGuire is representing the United States in the World Karate and Kickboxing Commission. With 36 countries participating, Trevor looks forward to all the aspects of his trip to Orlando, Florida, November 4-11.

“The sparring uniform is really cool; it’s like the American flag,” says Trevor, who is a fifth grader at Heritage Christian Academy. He also looks forward to “walking in like the Olympics,” says Trevor, in an aside to his mom Shari, “And you’re going to cry.”

A second-degree black belt at Dojo Karate, Trevor qualified for two events, including sparring, in which he earned a silver medal at Nationals in June.
