Maple Grove area students reached impressive athletic goals this year. The Maple Grove girls’ swim and dive team won the section 8AA championship for the sixth consecutive year. Sophomore swimmer Erin Buck earned her fourth all-state honor, and senior diver Lexi Tenenbaum set a new record in the 1-meter diving competition. Tenenbaum went on to take the state championship.
Park Center High School made news when student Patrick Truly Jr. was named all-state in Minnesota High School bowling. And the school’s CI division adapted soccer team finished the season at the top of the North Conference with a perfect 10-0 record. The team earned a spot at the state tournament, and senior Augie Wodrich scored his 100th career goal, earning his inclusion in the 100 Goal Club.
Osseo Senior High basketball players Janay Morton and Phillis Webb (one of Maple Grove Magazine’s prep elite athletes, August 2012) have been teammates since fifth grade and will soon have another four years to play together, having both just signed with Eastern Michigan University.
Maple Grove Senior High’s Tegan LeBarge and Kayla Crane were named to the Northwest Suburban all-conference volleyball team. Senior Erin Engel received honorable mention.
The Maple Grove girls’ soccer team won the Northwest Suburban Conference championship and received numerous awards, including the team academic gold award with an average team GPA above 3.75. Congrats!
