Meet a young girl who outplays the competition.
Elena Romashkov is only 11 years old, but her piano skills excel far beyond her years. This year, Romashkov won the Minnesota Music Teachers Association State Piano Contest at the Senior A Level, which consists of 17- and 18-year-olds. She was awarded participation in the annual Honor Concert, an award she has received four times now. Next year she will be competing at the Senior B Level, which includes 19- and 20-year-olds. “She feels comfortable playing music on this level,” says Elena’s mother, Svetlana. Although her future is unpredictable, Romashkov and her parents hope she becomes a professional pianist.
