For Bridgeport Tusler, a senior at Osseo Senior High School, a good leader doesn’t put himself on a pedestal; it’s about having chemistry with the team. After being named Gatorade Minnesota Player of the Year for high school football, and Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year—all with a 3.6 GPA—it’s clear his philosophy worked. Set to study business and sports management at South Dakota State University, Tusler says his success is driven by his mother.
“She’s the basis of everything I do, and putting a smile on her face at the end of the day is my vision of success,” says Tusler. An ardent Packer fan and stellar running back, football is his favorite sport. “He is a leader in our school. He is a good family-oriented person, and he’s liked by everybody,” says his football coach, Derrin Lamker. “It’s hard to do that when you are a superstar.”
