The Expanded "Diary of Anne Frank" Opens at Yellow Tree.

The untold story comes to life at Yellow Tree Theatre.

Yellow Tree Theatre has proven its ability to birth new things and its exuberance for breathing life into old things. This month they open their fifth season with a new adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank, adapted by the late playwright Wendy Kesselman.

This new version incorporates a number of pages from Anne’s diary, involving Anne’s burgeoning sexuality, that were originally withheld from her father; the late Otto Frank.

Directing Yellow Tree’s production of The Diary of Anne Frank is Twin Cities’ theater veteran, Jon Cranney. “I am thrilled to be back directing The Diary of Anne Frank for this vibrant local theater. I think this community would agree that Anne Frank’s story still remains very relevant today,” said Cranney. “The story of the human struggle against tyranny, racism and hatred told from the perspective of an innocent young girl is a story everyone, young and old, needs to hear.”
