Crowns for Canines Event

Walk the dog for a good cause.

Join the Crowns and Canines Walk for some sunny Saturday fun. The beauties of the day (bedecked with sparkly tiaras!) are the Maple Grove Ambassadors, who are hosting the May 21 fundraiser at the Lions Pavilion by the Maple Grove Community Center. Dogs of all kinds have a chance to strut their stuff for the ambassadors, and Alex West, former ambassador and current event coordinator of the Maple Grove Ambassadors Program, says, “It’ll be a fun event, and it’s not too competitive.”

After a short walk around the lake behind the community center, the dog show part of the afternoon will award titles like Best Dressed and Best Groomed. The judges even have pet-themed prizes to deliver. But even if your pup wasn’t top dog, walk away with a good feeling knowing you’re helping less-fortunate creatures; all funds raised go to the Animal Humane Society.

When it comes to ways to benefit the community, this year’s Maple Grove Ambassador Program theme, “Maple Grove: The PAWsibilities are Endless,” holds true. $15 is the suggested donation to cover families who want to join in the fun at the event, which starts at noon and ends at about 2 p.m. Checks can be written out to the Animal Humane Society.
