Velocity Sports Molds Student Athletes

Student athletes get hands-on training where the love of the game, and muscles, grow.

Athletes and fitness buffs who want to stand out from the pack should take note of Velocity Sports Performance in Champlin.

The focus there is on improving in a variety of sports skills at this get-fit hotspot, but it doesn’t mean the fitness center is boot-camp central. Since its opening in 2006, Velocity coaches guide everyone with a positive, personal approach. “If there’s poor technique going on, we help athletes on an individual basis,” says owner and Maple Grove resident Todd Wilson. By keeping injuries at bay, he adds, “We help to maximize athletic potential.”

Many participants are in the ages 8–18 crowd and sign up for small group or team sessions, which involve coaches of a school or travel team. Through those programs, Wilson says, “We can take our show on the road and bring our services to the athletes.”

Velocity offers a free trial experience for newcomers, which lasts an hour for children ages 8–11 and an hour and a half for those ages 12–18.
