Maple Grove Photo Contest Image Captures Starkness of Winter

Local high school girl captures the starkness of Minnesota winter.
Morgan Schoo's winning photo.

Morgan Schoo was walking her dog near the woods of Weaver Lake Park on a wintry Minnesota afternoon when she snapped a lovely shot of the landscape in front of her. It was an activity she repeats with her dog numerous times, throughout autumn and winter in particular, because of the beauty she sees in the woods.

This 17-year-old senior at Maple Grove Senior High School is still fairly new to the photography genre. She has been taking photos for two years and considers photography to be more of a hobby than a career path. She took a digital photography course at school, but her future plans consist of majoring in industrial engineering. She hopes to continue her photo hobby and pick up a few photography courses in college, as her class schedule allows.

Schoo’s photography is mainly nature themed, and Beautifully Barren is no exception. Its stark line is sure to catch anyone’s eye. Perhaps this won’t be the last time you see a photo captured by Schoo, now that she has discovered Maple Grove Magazine’s photo contest.
