Maple Grove’s Arbor Day

Information, activities and experts will be on hand for all ages. Master gardeners, Tree Care Advisors, Arborists and Arbor Committee members will be available. Activities for kids include tree medallions, arts and crafts. Smokey Bear and the Emerald Ash Borer are available for pictures. Free tote bags, tree seedlings, a tree raffle, sunflower seeds and pots will be given to attendees. Read more about Maple Grove’s Arbor Day

Trunk or Treat

Dress up in your favorite costume and join us for Trunk or Treat on October 29, 1–4 p.m. There will be a costume contest, free treats, guess the weight of the pumpkin, and more fun activities. Bach to Rock Music School Coon Rapids Grand Opening

Bach to Rock, America’s music school for students of all ages, is opening its newest school in Coon Rapids. The community is invited to the free grand opening. If you or your children are into music, singing or love playing a particular instrument, come check out our school.  Take a tour, enjoy a free music lesson, learn about individual lessons and group classes, or try out free toddler “Mommy and Me” classes.  Plus you can enter prize drawings and giveaways, check out the recording studio and enjoy performances by instructors. Park Center Musical All Shook Up

It’s 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”

Staying in the Fight

Representative John Lewis, a civil rights activist who fought alongside Dr. King called on all Americans to get in the fight and stay in the fight. In this program, influential Black leaders discuss their groundbreaking work: delivering innovative solutions all the while challenging activists and allies alike to get in and stay in the fight for racial equity. HBCU Legacy of Leadership

From Dr. King to Kamala Harris, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) produce Black American leaders and legends who advance our society. This panel discussion will explore the origin story of HBCUs, how they are critical to the health of our communities, and how local civil rights leaders like Roy Wilkins and Marvel Cook advocated for HBCUs in the North. Acting on Dr. King’s Call

How does Dr. King’s message regarding “creative maladjustment” relate to generations of institutional racism faced by African Americans? Three local leaders explore how Black Minnesotans have refused to normalize injustice and inequality and are responding today with action, innovation, and persistence. Gingerbread House Contest

Think you have what it takes to be declared the ultimate winner?

This contest is open to all Maple Grove Residents and is FREE! Send us your photo of the best Gingerbread House you make this season. It can be made from any material and any size! The only rule is that the Gingerbread House must be made by YOU!
