Heaven’s Gate: A Book From Dreams

One young man has a continuous dream for 367 days.

Something incredible happened to Andrew West from November 23rd, 2015 to November 25th, 2016. Every night, this now-22-year-old who grew up in Maple Grove had vivid dreams that continued where they left off the night before. “I remember going to sleep and being so excited to see it every night,” West says. He wrote down every dream he had, accumulating 8,039 pages, and is currently editing the dreams into a series of eight books called the Heaven’s Gate series.

The story is set in a dystopian future with 30 main characters attempting to reach the eighth floor of a tower in the Amazon jungle. Each floor is based in a different, dangerous world while also emulating a different human struggle. The floors are designed to kill whoever cannot overcome the challenge, and the characters’ purpose is to reach the top floor to unlock the secret that will save humanity.

EXCERPT:
“Two weeks,” she continued. Two weeks ago the streets were filled with people going about their day-to-day lives, blissfully unaware of the decisions their governments were making on their behalves for years now. It seemed odd to her how two weeks ago, no one knew anything—yet how it only took two days to put everyone into a panic. Suddenly, survival was on everyone’s mind; New World eligibility was on everyone’s mind; “What do I say to my kids?” was on everyone’s mind.
