When Bryan Anderson of Maple Grove snapped this photo, titled “It’s Hot Outside” last July, he never expected that it would take honorable mention in a photo contest. Anderson, whose inspiration was “summer fun,” was playing with his children in their front yard when he captured this moment. Family and nature are among this amateur photographer’s favorite subjects, which is apparent in this snapshot. Anderson typically takes photos using a Canon 6D and 60D, and this specific image was photographed with the 60D using a 24-70 f\2.8 lens. Hopefully he will capture more fun family this summer, in time for this year’s contest.—Julia Burke
