I am Maple Grove: Spotlight on Kari Lyn Wampler

Touching base with Maple Grove’s own Kari Lyn Wampler.

Name: Kari Lyn Wampler

Hometown: Maple Grove

Occupation: Licensed marriage and family therapist.

She wears many hats. She is a marriage and family therapist for the Calli Institute, but also a public speaker, writer, workshop leader and pastoral intern at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. She cherishes her family. “The time I actually get to spend with them is a gift.” She is driven by knowledge. Her quest to understand wellness in all its aspects drives everything she does. She is surprisingly good at singing. “Although I don’t sing a lot anymore, I still do at church on occasion. It’s something that I really enjoy.” She has Zen. “In my spare time, I like to meditate and find some sort of peace of mind.” She’s on the move. “One of my biggest hobbies is traveling. I’ve always been fascinated with learning about other cultures. Even if I’m just going to Mason City, Iowa, I’m still learning about how somebody else lives.” She’s an academic. She takes pride in holding two master’s degrees—theology and marriage and family therapy—and in the work it took to get them. I am Maple Grove. “I was born and raised here. My work is all about understanding the people around me. I approach wellness from a holistic view. I’m looking at biological wellness, relationship wellness, individual wellness and, most importantly, spiritual wellness. All of these things work together to create our lives.”
