This summer, Rush Creek Elementary Kidstop students collected more than 3,500 books and raised an additional $1,000 during a four-week community service project. University of Minnesota Gopher athletes partnered with Kidstop throughout the summer to donate to Books For Africa, a program that encourages a culture of literacy and provides tools of empowerment to the next generation of parents, teachers and leaders in Africa.

Students from Weaver Lake and Cedar Island elementary schools also contributed to the challenge, adding an additional 6,500 for a total of 10,000 books.
