From MG to Worlds

Maple Grove Senior High student represents the United States in Taekwondo World Championship.

Alasan Ann is a sophomore at Maple Grove Senior High, but at 16 years of age, he has a lot more on his plate than your typical high-schooler. Having recently returned from the junior world team trials for taekwondo, Ann will be the only Minnesotan to represent the United States in the Junior World Championships in Canada, an opportunity he has longed for. “This has been the main goal of the team; this is what we train for,” he says.

Grandmaster Eui Lee is Ann’s current trainer. “He really is an amazing kid and great athlete,” Lee says. Ann finds great inspiration in his teammates, whom he considers his friends, and continues to work hard in hopes of success at the Junior World Championships and at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
