The playwright and theatre producer who brought you A Hunting Shack Christmas last year, Jessica Lind Peterson, brings another Christmas hit to the Yellow Tree Theatre. A Gone Fishin’ Christmas is a fun holiday comedy about two sisters participating in an ice fishing contest in Duluth.
For Peterson, the play takes her back to her hometown, where she spent a lot of time fishing and camping, and where the women in her family would hunt and fish just as much as the men. “It’s also a story about coming home and remembering your roots. Writing about it reminds me it’s still in my bones,” Peterson says.
The play will feature a cast of five, including one of the original actors from Yellow Tree Theater’s first Christmas play, Mary Fox. It just so happens that three of the five actors are from Duluth or the Iron Range, which adds to the authenticity of the play.
“If you’re from Minnesota or have ever eaten lutefisk, worn a flannel or frozen your butt off staring at a hole in the ice, then this play is for you,” Peterson says.
