After growing up tinkering in the garage, Jeremy Luffey has his father to thank for his fondness of cars. While he says his mom “was probably happy that I was keeping busy and staying out of trouble,” what he learned in his youth was the foundation for his career as general manager of Automotive Concepts in New Hope.
Luffey manages day-to-day operations, including purchases and sales of cars, body work and sales and installation of a plethora of accessories for Automotive Concepts. He has years of experience in mechanical handiwork, and has been in many Las Vegas, Chicago and Minneapolis auto shows.
Once inspired by a client’s army-green shorts, Luffey painted a guy’s ride the same color and added built-tough rivets to make it look like an Army tank. From adding air-ride suspensions, sound and navigation systems (like in his recently finished 1963 Chevy Impala), Luffey was a main player in expanding the high-end retail side at Automotive Concepts.
At home in Maple Grove, the 39-year-old looks forward to seeing how his teenage son develops an interest in cars, which will be easy, as Luffey is also a collector. Luffey says he’ll always have something old at home because “part of the fun is to work on the car and see how it progresses.”
