Three years of hard work will finally come to fruition on the big screen for Matt Cici and David Marketon. The Maple Grove duo’s vision will come to life for the first time in front of a public audience on Friday, September 23 as part of the second annual Twin Cities Film Fest.
Lambent Fuse, a film exploring the choices of several characters that have various mental conditions and whose lives intertwine, will screen at the Kerasotes Showplace ICON Theatre at West End (Park Place Blvd, St. Louis Park) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this event may be purchased at the film fest’s website.
The evening will also include an informative question and answer panel featuring the film’s cast and crew, all from Minnesota. Lambent Fuse is the only narrative feature showing in the festival that was made in Minnesota.
“We’re really going into this to share with Minnesota the film we've been making with Minnesotans in Minnesota,” says Cici, the film’s director.
Although this is the film’s first public and festival screening, Cici says it’s had several private critique screenings for individuals and groups, who have provided positive feedback.
“As honest and humble as I can put this: We're very confident going into Friday with the positive reviews we've received so far,” he says. “However, every audience is different.”
Cici says he is in the process of planning the film’s Minnesota premiere, which will most likely take place in a local theatre in November or December. Local independent theatres throughout the state are scheduled to start theatrical screenings in early 2012.
Additionally, Cici says he and Marketon plan on partnering with schools to help enrich the local film community, as well as mental health organizations to further the dialogue about mental illness and its importance of understanding in today's society.
“I think it's really coming to fruition, this project,” Cici says. “We made it for people to watch, and that time has finally arrived.”
