“I'm that girl that always has her camera on her whether it's in my purse, or I'm just carrying it around ready to shoot something,” says Brianna Fortin. That love for photography and ready-for-anything mindset helped Fortin out last summer at her boyfriend’s family barbeque when his cousin, Jill, picked up her adorable and rather big dog for a good laugh.
“Something about big dogs being cradled like a baby... it gets me every time,” Fortin shares about her simultaneously sweet and hilarious photo. It certainly got our judges too, taking home second place in the pets category of Maple Grove Magazine’s 2011 photo contest.
She’s not a professional, but she’s always enjoyed photography, having taken classes in school when she was younger. Nowadays, she enjoys teaching herself the ropes with her Canon T3i and sharing her work on a blog. She adds that much of her practice comes from all of the dogs and babies in her life.
The timing was perfect and the candid result was not just fun, but meaningful for all dog lovers: “It makes me smile every time I look at it. I thought it would probably do the same for others. Well, that and it has a good message to it 'pick up your pup and show them some love'.”
