This past June, Osseo Senior High teacher Bill Bauman was one of 60 people selected worldwide to attend the prestigious Supreme Court Summer Institute. Running for five days, the program taught attendees the ins and outs of how the Supreme Court operates. Visitors had the chance to review cases covered within the past year and talk with individuals who were primary to those cases. Attendees met with the Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr.
Acceptance into the respected program was not a small task. Bauman had to write an essay, provide background information and a letter of recommendation, and explain how he would bring the information learned back to his school and community.
“I can teach students how the Supreme Court affects the lives of American citizens,” he says. “It’s just my passion. I think it’s really cool.”
