After encountering a debilitating virus within their own family, Chad and Stella Roline are hosting a benefit concert to raise money for the STOP CMV Action Network. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common cold virus that when contracted during pregnancy can lead to permanent health problems or disabilities for the baby.
When Stella was pregnant with her second child, she contracted the virus which is the most common congenital infection in the United States. Luckily, her son did not have any permanent health problems, but the virus can lead to hearing or vision loss, sensory issues, cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
“There is no vaccine yet, so we want to spread awareness within the Maple Grove Community and the state,” Stella says.
The couple thought a benefit concert would be a great way to get families involved and informed. The concert will feature the Grammy Award-winning Okee Dokee Brothers, and all proceeds from the event will go to the national CMV Action Network.
