Maple Grove’s self-proclaimed “upscale thrift store”, Earth Exchange, gives customers discounts for their donations (think Goodwill with a Plato’s closet twist). Depending on the quantity and quality of merchandise, you can receive a coupon for up to 50 percent off in the store. In addition to carrying used, donated goods, Earth Exchange also carries brand new products, most made in the United States. “We wanted a thrift store where people can bring in their merchandise and get something for it,” says store manager Cara James. Since opening on Earth Day 2001, Earth Exchange’s mission has focused on recycling goods and keeping things out of landfills. 11425 96th Ave. N.; earthexchange.org
