February 11 holds its place in history as the birthday of Thomas Edison. In honor of the man who invented the light bulb, we asked Ethan Allen general manager Sue Williamson for her input on bringing the latest in light fixtures into your home.
“Scale is so important,” says Williamson, “Especially with floor lamps, we see some that are too small for the room and aren’t really doing their job for the whole room because the lighting is all just underneath.” Lighting fixtures seem to err on the larger side and, according to Williamson, are all a little bit more transitional than what they used to be. At Ethan Allen, you can find interesting finishes and natural elements. “We’re seeing more interesting lamps and not just the jar shape that we’ve seen forever,” she adds.
