Maple Grove Senior High grad Evan Skaja was honored to be a U.S. Presidential Scholar* candidate this year.
Evan Skaja, who graduated in the spring from Maple Grove Senior High, was one of 4,000 high school seniors selected as 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholar candidates. Semifinalists and winners are chosen based on academic achievements, leadership, character and community involvement. A well-rounded high school student, Skaja played varsity football, club basketball and was a member of Link Crew, math team and National Honor Society. In addition to the eight AP classes he took while in high school, Skaja also took courses at the University of Minnesota, served as a peer tutor and also won a National Merit Scholarship from the University of Minnesota. He hopes to study biomedical engineering in college.
*The U.S. Presidential Scholarship is one of the nation’s highest honors for a high school student.
