Weaver Lake students Partner with Gopher athletes to raise funds for sports equipment.
Students in Kidstop at Maple Grove’s Weaver Lake Elementary School and in the Cosmic Club summer program partnered with the University of Minnesota Gophers last summer to raise funds for Sports Gift, a California based company that distributes sports equipment to more than 50 countries all over the world to help equip impoverished children to play sports. Their goal was to raise enough to fund 1,000 pieces of equipment—they ultimately raised enough for 1,343 items. The Gophers joined Kidstop students in a car wash fundraiser and sponsored an athletic equipment collection drive. In August, they finished their efforts together by spending an afternoon packing food at Feed My Starving Children.
