University of Minnesota student Sarah Abdon is doing her part to break stereotypes for women in the fields of math and science. As one of only 15 statewide winners of the National Center for Women & Information Technology’s Women in Computing award, Abdon has proven to be an individual of excellence.
During her time at Minnesota Connections Academy, an online public school, Abdon displayed a passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and plans to continue pursuing her passions through academic endeavors in human rights and cultural justice. She is proud to be an active representative for both women and underrepresented students.
IN 2015, 25% of the computing workforce were women, and less than 10% were women of color according to ncwit.org.
