Fourth grader beats track record in his very first meet.
We all have dreams and aspirations of becoming the best at what we do—Gannon Farrens shows that it’s never too early to start chasing those dreams, literally.
Gannon, a 9-year old who is in fourth grade at Basswood Elementary, broke the record at the USA Track and Field Minnesota summer league meet number five—his very first official track meet. The previous record was 6:02 and Gannon ran an impressive 5:48. “At this age, to be as fast as he is, it’s quite a natural affinity,” says proud mom and triathlete Erin Farrens.
With further experience in triathlons and road-runs, it is safe to say that Gannon is a future champion athlete in the making.
