Sometimes, it’s the perfect combination of environment and timing that creates a stunning photo. Gina Walseth recognized the beauty of the moment immediately upon spying this scene. She whipped out a substitute camera—her cell phone. “Ideally, I would’ve used my Canon 5D Mark IV with a 70-200 lens, but sometimes it’s just about capturing the moment, getting your composition correct and having your image create a feeling,” Walseth explains.

Last summer, Mick Wragg was sitting on his back patio enjoying the nice afternoon, when he noticed an abundance of chipmunks. He and his wife decided to throw a few nuts at them for entertainment. As the chipmunks became more and more excited, Wragg opened the Planters Mixed Nuts container and let the woodland animals have at it. This little guy decided to climb into the bucket, having his way with a few cashews. “He went in and out of the jar and looked at us, and then we put the cover on top and he hopped up and gave us a dirty look,” Wragg says. Lisa Willey is constantly snapping photos. In fact, Willey owns her own business, Lisa Marie Photography, where she takes family photos and other portraits. As luck would have it, Willey was on a walk with her daughter and their black lab when the three of them stumbled upon a beautiful dog, which Willey guesses was a Husky, on the path. Willey turned to her Canon EOS T3 Rebel camera to capture the moment. For this particular shot, Willey used a macro lens attached to her camera to really get up close and personal.
