Taylor Sieve Thinks She Can Dance and America Thinks So Too

Taylor Sieve graduated in the top ten percent of her class at Maple Grove Senior High in 2016 but didn’t spend much time at school because she practically lived at the dance studio. Her hard work paid off as she competed and placed third in the most recent season of TV’s So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD).

After high school Sieve relocated to North Hollywood to pursue a career in dance, modeling and acting. She trained for more than six years at one of the most competitive studios in the country, Larkin Dance Studio in Maplewood.

“It was quite surreal to be on TV,” says Sieve.

“It filled me with a new type of motivation and responsibility. Things I never knew I could do, I did on the show. It definitely challenged me not only physically with having to learn routines so quickly, but also emotionally.”

Contestants were given about five hours each week to learn and perfect the duets seen on the show. The remainder of the time is spent in interviews, blocking rehearsals and in learning group dance numbers. “Some weeks were harder ... but those were the weeks I felt as though I grew the most,” she says.

The judges praised Sieve’s performances, saying she was “the dancer to beat.” Having placed third, she also toured with the SYTYCD company.

The SYTYCD finale aired last September. You can watch Sieve’s final performance (and the entire series) at the Fox website.
