Marathons aren’t for everyone. Most human hearts, lungs and legs just aren’t cut out for that kind of abuse. Scrapbooking, on the other hand, is all in the hands.
Page for the Cure, an annual 12-hour scrapbooking marathon benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is celebrating its 10th year April 9 at the Mounds View Community Center (5394 Edgewood Drive, Mounds View). Although the event moved from Providence Academy to the new Mounds View location, it’s still sponsored by the MOMS Clubs of Maple Grove and is run by volunteers that are mostly Maple Grove residents and attended by many more.
It’s not just 12 hours of cropping; participants will also get to enjoy three meals, snacks, door prizes, vendor booths and a silent auction of donated goods and services. Proceeds from ticket sales ($70 per person) and the silent auction will be donated to Komen for the Cure. Up to 200 women have attended in years past, and they’ve managed to raise over $110,000.
Another perk: Two massage therapists will be at the event providing relief and relaxation. Backs can get sore from 12 hours of hunching over scrapbook pages. Turns out scrapbooking isn’t all in the hands, after all.
