Academic awards are extremely difficult to earn. But for a lucky few there's a tangible reward for those stressful hours spent hitting the books, making the extra effort worth it.
Maple Grove’s Zoe Tu would agree. Tu was selected as a 2014 U.S. Presidential Scholar, truly one of the highest honors a student can receive, this spring. Tu, a senior at Wayzata High School, was one of three students from Minnesota to be named a Presidential Scholar. This year, only 141 students across America were given the honor, becoming the 50th class of Presidential Scholars.
“It's kind of surreal to have been selected,” says Tu. “I've definitely worked hard all through high school, and it feels great that it paid off! This isn't the end though, and I'm excited for all the opportunities that await me in the future.”
Next fall, Tu will be heading to New Jersey to attend Princeton University. She plans to major in chemical engineering.
We wish this Ivy League-bound student the best of luck in her future endeavors.
