Celebrate Prince's Birthday by Reading 'Gold Experience,' a Chronicle of a Legendary Life

"Gold Experience: Following Prince in the '90s" by Jim Walsh
Celebrate a legend with a good read.

Celebrate the June 7 birthday of Minnesota’s Prince—Prince Rogers Nelson, born in 1958, by reading Jim Walsh’s Gold Experience: Following Prince in the ‘90s. Walsh was a reporter for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and covered Prince exhaustively during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Walsh’s book is an in-depth history of the events of Prince’s life.

Walsh included pictures that span from parties to Paisley Park and text that covers insights and interviews that reveal an intimate look at Prince as few have seen him.

For those who are interested in reading more, several books have been published about Prince since his death, April 21, 2016. Titles include Prince Before the Rain (photography by Allen Beaulieu), a book of images recording Prince’s life from the late 1970s to the early 1980s by Prince’s most trusted photographer. The Most Beautiful: My Life With Prince by Mayte Garcia is a candid look at Prince’s life by his first wife.
