What’s February in Minnesota without hockey?

Support your local Maple Grove Energy youth hockey team as they take to the ice for the last game of the season against the rival Rochester Ice Hawks. The matchup between the two junior hockey teams is sure to be full of energy—living up to the team’s name.

Both teams, comprising what Energy associate head coach Chad Ballard says is a “pretty good mix of kids” from across the United States, are looking to improve players’ skills, with the hope that many of them will move up to junior- or college-level hockey. “They are trying hard to be the best they can be,” Ballard says.

The Energy averages 200 to 300 fans at every game and was in third place for Minnesota Junior Hockey League’s attendance in the 2013-2014 season, according to Ballard. So what are you waiting for? Head over to the rink and watch the puck closely. “We play hard every single game until the last buzzer,” Ballard says.
