Fast asleep in the mid-afternoon sun, these Labrador retriever puppies couldn’t be cozier or more content as baby Ella screams with joy. Lisa Willey, a Maple Grove resident since 2000, took advantage of a great summertime photo opportunity while spending a day visiting a family friend. “Her daughter’s dog recently had a litter of puppies,” Willey says. “We thought it would be fun to do a photo shoot of them with the kids.” Willey brought her two daughters, Lexi and Brooke, along for the day of play.
Ella, the granddaughter of Willey’s friend, stole the show with her lively excitement and unabated joy for the young pups. “It was the end of the day and those puppies were tired,” Willey says, noting the contrast of their sleepy faces with the wild look of excitement from Ella. Willey’s photo of Ella and the puppies took second place in the Pets category of last year’s Focus on Maple Grove photo contest.
Throughout the summer, you can bet that Willey won’t stray too far from her Canon 70D camera, as she frequently submits shots to photography contests. In the Maple Grove area, Willey enjoys photographing natural settings, such as sunsets, flowers and, of course, puppies and babies.
