Maple Grove Musician Creates an Educational Atmosphere for Other Local Artists

After moving to Maple Grove, longtime musician Paul Mazzacano created the Maple Grove Jazz Ensemble 10 years ago, teaching musicians to push to their full potential while challenging them with pieces he composes himself.

“I started this jazz ensemble with the understanding and the knowledge that the kids weren’t getting what they should get as far as teaching and experience,” Mazzacano says.

There is no age restriction for the ensemble, but auditions are required, along with exceptional talent. Currently, the ensemble has a teenager as pianist while all the other musicians are adults.

The Maple Grove Jazz Ensemble performs October 13 at a fundraiser for Maple Grove Arts Center at 7 p.m.
