Who doesn’t love a good group, especially when it’s creative, supportive and publishes its own book?
The Writers Studio, which meets from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Wednesday (weather permitting) at the Maple Grove Arts Center, had its first book published late last year. Bits and Pieces: Maple Grove Writers’ Studio Anthology One is available in paperback ($11) or Kindle at amazon.com, and autographed copies ($15) can be purchased at the arts center.
The book includes fiction, non-fiction and flash fiction pieces. Readers will find poetry, prompt pieces (Writers pulled an action and a description card from a box and wrote for 20 minutes.) works in progress (novels) and short stories.
The authors include Marj Helmer, Caroline Munro, Carolyn Wilhelm, Sybil Swanson, Gary L. Wilhelm, Mary Mitchell Lundeen, David Zander, Lise Spence-Parsons, Sarah Bromage and M.M. Jayne.
The Writers Studio provides a meeting place for aspiring and established writers. Members share ideas, offer inspiration and strive to encourage and motivate fellow writers. (Members are required to purchase an annual, $45 advocacy of Maple Grove Arts Center. This may be purchased online or at the arts center.) In addition, the arts center has a host of writing resource books on hand to assist writers in their creative endeavors.
