Mamma Mia!
Maple Grove favorite Frankie’s Pizza still serves a spectacular triangle of tasty satisfaction.
Mom and Pop restaurants just seem to have a certain feel to them. The old Frankie’s Pizza, with only 16 seats inside, definitely had that feel. But even with its new expansion (from 16 seats to 47), Frankie’s somehow maintains that small-business vibe. The renovation was done to “accommodate people so that they could enjoy the Frankie’s dining experience in a warm, relaxed, comfortable atmosphere,” says owner Jessica O’Dell.
The newly updated restaurant offers beer, wine, pasta, ribs, sandwiches and, of course, their famous Chicago-style stuffed pizza. The delicious fresh dough that is made daily, rolled thick and then layered with toppings, cheese, another layer of dough and pizza sauce, can be hard to come by if you’re not in the Windy City, but Frankie’s Pizza has got you covered. It takes longer than other pizza joints or delivery services (about 35 minutes of baking time), but it’s well worth the wait. For extra ease, order your pizza online, and then stop by to pick it up. —Madie Scott
