The Maple Grove half marathon and 5k Race returns for the eighth year, hosted by the Maple Grove Lions club. “The race runs all around Maple Grove, using the many beautiful nature trails and paths through the great neighborhoods of the area,” says coordinator Brian Kuhnley. With over 1,100 runners already registered, this year’s event is expected to have one of the largest turnouts to date. The event also features a two-person half marathon relay, in addition to the 5K and individual half-marathon. Awards will be given to first through third place for each event. The event is sponsored by Great River Energy, Twin Cities Orthopedics, who coordinate the medical staff and equipment for the races, as well as Maple Grove Hospital. All charitable donations support local organizations.
