With the arrival of summertime, Maple Grove residents are ready to get back outdoors and spend quality time with family and friends on the many great public lakes in the area. Among the lakes in Maple Grove is 291-acre Eagle Lake, just southwest of the I-94 and MN-169 crossing. It draws the attention of boaters and residents for its refreshingly clear waters and easy accessibility. Abby Davis, a Maple Grove resident since 2003, has lived on the shores of Eagle Lake for 12 years. “Eagle Lake is a great swimming lake,” Davis says confidently. She has three kids who do not mind spending their summer hours with water-pruned fingers. “We also have an incredible community of homeowners on Eagle Lake,” she says. “There are always people gathering out on the lake to swim and socialize together.”
Davis visually captured the excitement and fun of spending time on the water when her kids, Alexa, 11, Juliana, 9, and Jason, 6, took a group jump off their second-hand, homemade raft. “The raft creates a destination for the kids,” Davis says. “We had just gotten the raft out for the summer and they were more than ready to put it to good use.” Abby Davis’ photo took third place in the People and Families category of the 2014 Maple Grove photography contest.
