Three Rivers Park District is hosting its fifth annual Frozen Frolic Fat Bike Race series at Elm Creek Park. Join fellow cyclists as you race through the winter scenery. The race uses a time-trial format, which welcomes participants of all skill levels. “The goal is to adhere to all ability levels anywhere from first-time riders to experts,” explains recreation specialist Jesse Izquierdo.
This race is open to all participants age 14 and up. Helmets are required and studded tires are allowed. Contestants are welcome to use their smaller tires or mountain bikes; they may just find more difficulty navigating through the snowy trails. Sponsored by Maple Grove Cycling and Freewheel Bike, prizes will be awarded to the top finalists in the U17 men’s and women’s categories. Those who compete in three of the six total races in the series have the ability to compete in the larger Frozen Frolic Series.
