Halloween is my absolute favorite time of year, so narrowing down to one spooky podcast to recommend is a real challenge. Snap Judgment Presents: Spooked is a spooky spinoff of Snap Judgment, a storytelling podcast hosted by Glynn Washington.
In this chilling series, as in the original, episodes are made up of multiple stories told by the people who lived them, thematically tied together by Washington’s melodic intros and outros. So far, the series has had two seasons and will hopefully be back this year for a third.
Tales range from mildly unsettling to downright scary—and, of course, are best listened to in the dark and with company! A friend and I spent one memorable late-night road trip glued to the speakers as we listened to a season two episode about a haunting ghost child, which was told by an Irish social worker. It’s those individual voices and perspectives that make each episode personal and unique.
Are the stories true? The tellers swear they are, but I suppose that comes down to whether you quickly dismiss those bumps in the night or chalk them up to something more ghostly!
