Minnesota High Tech Association’s annual Tekne Awards highlight innovations in everything from agricultural and educational technologies to cybersecurity and software. This time around, Maple Grove firm NxThera took the gold in the Startup category. NxThera’s initial successes are worth noting. The firm has worked on a thermal treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia. This common urologic disorder is currently treated with surgery, laser therapy, and other procedures that are riskier and more invasive than NxThera’s proposed steam-based treatment, currently in clinical trial.
