Stitching Through the Season

The Maple Grove Quilters hold their biennial quilt show

When members of the Maple Grove Quilters Guild gather, it’s a comforting experience (pun intended). Every other year they gather to share (and, yes, show off) their latest works. If you’re lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the event, you’ll be overwhelmed by vibrant colors, shapes and creativity.

“We have about 100 different entries in the main exhibit, ranging from full-sized quilts to large and small bags, wall hanging decorations and even crib quilts,” says Bernice Musech, one of the founding members of the Maple Grove Quilters Guild.

In addition to the members’ exhibit and visitor guild challenge (for those determined to put their skills to the test) there are many raffle items, including a raffle quilt which was created with contributions from Maple Grove Quilters members. The Guild picks a pattern, everyone donates fabric and other items to make the quilt; members of the Guild work on the quilt together. “Aside from our raffle prizes, we also have vendors who show and sell products, and a boutique featuring items made by members of our club,” Musech says.
