Maple Grove Last Glance

The month of April brings the notorious aspects of the spring season, such as
April Fool’s Day and rainy weather. But perhaps most important, it brings the
official start to baseball season. Baseball is truly America’s favorite pastime,
and for many Minnesotans, it is the best part of their spring and summer. It
provides the opportunity for players and sports fans of any age to come together

While walking on a trail between Eagle Lake and Pike Lake last June, Evan Harlan found himself up close and personal with a winged friend. Harlan says he often brings his Canon T3i with him on walks around the trails in Maple Grove to take photos of anything that catches his eye. This time, it certainly paid off, as Harlan captured first place in the Nature category of the Maple Grove Magazine photo contest with this photo entitled “What’cha Looking At?”  Read more about Evan Harlan Wins First Place in the Nature Category

For many Minnesotans, the beach and lakes provide a great source of summer fun. After all, we aren’t the land of 10,000 lakes for nothing. For the water-lovers of Maple Grove, the end of summer can be marked by the closing of local beaches. Tracy Dumbauld of Maple Grove says that although she doesn’t frequent Maple Grove beaches, in October 2011, she was struck by the ‘Beach Closed’ sign sticking out of the sand. At the time, she was walking her rambunctious new puppy around the paths of Fish Lake Park and noticed the sign she had never seen before.
