Winning Photo Provides Insight to Great Principles of Photography

Each year the Maple Grove photo contest elicits images of our community. We see photographs of nature, identifiable city locations, kids and families, adorable pets and sometimes people in humorous predicaments. Last year we invited professional photographer Sandy Jones to join the team of judges. Witness her thought process when judging a photograph, specifically, the winner in the ‘people’ category: Stop and Smell the Flowers by Lisa Willey.

Tanya Cully’s Photo: Double Play

The month of April brings the notorious aspects of the spring season, such as
April Fool’s Day and rainy weather. But perhaps most important, it brings the

provides the opportunity for players and sports fans of any age to come together
and make lasting memories. Tanya Cully of Maple Grove captured one of those
moments last June at her son’s baseball game. Read more about Tanya Cully’s Photo: Double Play

This time, it certainly paid off, as Harlan captured first place in the Nature category of the Maple Grove Magazine photo contest with this photo entitled “What’cha Looking At?”  Read more about Evan Harlan Wins First Place in the Nature Category

Tracy Dumbauld of Maple Grove says that although she doesn’t frequent Maple Grove beaches, in October 2011, she was struck by the ‘Beach Closed’ sign sticking out of the sand. At the time, she was walking her rambunctious new puppy around the paths of Fish Lake Park and noticed the sign she had never seen before.
