Superintendent of grounds at Rush Creek Golf Club, Dale Hiebert, took a photo Dec. 14 while the temperatures were below zero. Sun dogs are usually seen as two subtly colored patches of light to the left and right of the sun. They are most often seen close to the horizon and are created by light interacting with ice crystals in the atmosphere.
