Up-and-coming Black classical violinist Ray McMillian receives a $5 million dollar ransom note for the return of the Stradivarius violin he inherited from his great- grandfather. The violin was stolen from his hotel room in New York City on the night of the Tchaikovsky music competition in Moscow—the most prestigious musical competition in the world. The authorities have run out of leads in the case, so Ray takes matters into his own hands.
