After giving birth to three children, experiencing the devastating loss of an infant and surviving late stage breast cancer, Amber Johnson found herself at a checkup, overweight and out of shape. Her oncologist said she “wasn’t going to get back in shape by just walking the dog,” so, in addition to eating healthy, she decided to add a cardio and strength training workout to her routine.
Johnson joined Orangetheory Fitness. “The trainers were amazing and super encouraging, the other members were all at varying levels of fitness and skill, [so] I could go at my own pace and challenge myself based on my own condition,” she says. More than two years later, Johnson continues to work out at least four mornings per week and has maintained a 20-pound weight loss, but says the bigger story is in the overall improvement in her health.
“I credit my workouts with giving me the energy and confidence to make a career move and balance family, career, faith, fitness and fun.” Johnson says.
