Pearle Vision Family Owners in Maple Grove MN

At Pearle Vision in Maple Grove, work is a family affair. Jim Hawley serves as CEO while his wife, Donna, is co-owner, works on marketing and manages their giving program. She reports to their daughter Brooke Hawley Edwards, the GM and another co-owner of the store.

Christina Traeger is a livestock farmer in Avon, Minnesota, who, by her own admission, “does a lot of things the old way.” Her chicken coop, for example, was owned by her grandmother. “I think my dad was involved in building it, maybe 45 or 50 years ago,” she says.

Every July, something incredible takes place that gathers folks from all over the Midwest—the Hamel Rodeo & Bull Ridin’ Bonanza.

 

According to Maple Grove resident Ellie Hoyt, athletics provide more than a quality workout to student participants—Hoyt has found friendship and solace in sports. “Volleyball was a great outlet for me,” she says of her own school sports experience.

 

Races are plentiful around the Maple Grove area during the spring and summer months, and plenty of residents enjoy gathering at races in support of causes and charities or to foster their competitive spirits.

 

Former Maple Grove resident Ellen Roeser, mother of three children and grandmother of two grandchildren, watched the struggles of her oldest daughter’s friends as they had babies and didn’t know where to turn for care.

 

When the Emlong family moved to Maple Grove from Denver in 2015, their to-do list started out like any family’s would.

Spend a Saturday morning learning all about dragonflies and their unusual life cycles at the Dragonfly Festival from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. July 7 at the Eastman Nature Center ($5). All ages can visit the dragonfly tent.

 

The Arbor Lakes Arts Fair, planned for July 14–15, is sure to be a fun-filled weekend for both kids and adults.

 

In the summer months, there is a broad assortment of activities for everyone to enjoy, and going to a lake or beach is surely one of them. Working at Weaver Lake Beach since 2011, lifeguard Matthew Kampa finds his job something he looks forward to year after year.

 

With the spirit of the Fourth of July,  many will proudly wave our nation’s flag. Commander Earl Buchan, of the Osseo/Maple Grove American Legion, led the Legion’s color guard for almost 20 years and is quite familiar with the unified standard of how to properly handle the American flag.
