Maple Grove Family Pet Captured At Sunset

Maple Grove resident captures furry family member on Eagle Lake.
This photo was taken on Mother’s Day and won second place in the 2016 Focus on Maple Grove photo contest in the Pets category.

“Paisley is my very first dog, I never grew up with pets,” says Maple Grove resident Megan Smith. After 6 years, Paisley Pebbles Smith, a Shih-Tzu Bichon mix, or “shih-chon,” has a special place in the heart of the Smith family that includes Smith’s husband Ryan and son Roman, who is 4. “She (Paisley) is my son Roman’s favorite playmate,” Smith says.

Smith captured this shot of Paisley with her iPhone during one of many Maple Grove sunsets on Eagle Lake, where the Smith family resides. “Two years ago we found a house on Eagle Lake. It was a cabin a hundred years ago…enjoying the lake is something we don’t take for granted,” Smith says. The lake provides ample opportunity for photos. “We love seeing eagles and loons right in our back yard,” Smith says. And although this particular photo captures just one sunset on Eagle Lake, for the Smith family watching the sunset is a regular pastime. “I try to watch the sunset as many evenings as I can. We like to watch it as a family,” she says.
