Maple Grove Rotary Brings Playground to a Small Town in Mexico

A piece of Maple Grove now lies in the small border town of Sasabe, Mexico.

Part of the playground that used to be on 63rd Avenue near Eagle Lake was refurbished by Kids Around the World, a nonprofit organization. Volunteers from their program and Maple Grove’s Rotary Club traveled to build the new playground in Sasabe, a town that has never had this luxury which most take for granted.

Judy Johnson, a volunteer on the trip, used to play with her daughter on the very playground pieces she helped rebuild.

“It was just a very joyous thing, and it’s like the playground got a second life,” Johnson says.
